Rick was raised in a
shop which his dad, Huck, still owns and operates in west Texas. Huck
is a hot-rodder too, so it’s in his blood. Rick’s first car was a ’63
Falcon that he built when he was only 14. At the age of 16 he built
his first street rod, a ’23 T-bucket. Four years later, he started on
his first race car, a ’71 Maverick.
After serving 4 years
in the army, Rick was honorably discharged and went to work in a speed
shop in Odessa, TX. After the oil field bust in 1981, he moved to
Dallas and worked at Harry’s Hot Rod Shop. Rick was a member of the
Castrol Drag Racing Team working on Harry’s super comp dragster. In
the early-mid ninety’s, he drove a Mustang in the new NMCA
Organization and eventually made it to the final round in the World
Finals in Memphis.
Rick decided to take a
few years off from racing and did the show car scene for a while.
After his daughter was grown, he decided it would be a good time to
start his own business. So, in 1999, he found a place to start his
own shop in Aubrey, TX. For the next ten years, he owned & operated a
general repair facility and did some hot rod work on his customer’s
hobby cars. He then decided to slow down and work on the cars that he
really enjoyed. He sold the repair business to an employee and never
looked back.
With the new shop
ready, Rick is looking forward to enjoying his work again. Just about
anything 1974 and older is welcome to be customized, restored, or just
brought back to life. They can rebuild a car you started or start
from scratch. Get Grandma’s car that has been sitting for years going
again! You deserve that car you always wanted! A little at a time or
all at once, big or small, the crew can do just about anything you can
imagine. If you just can’t seem to get that tune-up or brake job done
or just want to go faster, let Rick’s Hot Rod Shop do the work so you
can have time to enjoy your ride.
The crew at Rick’s Hot
Rod Shop has over 80 years combined experience in the automotive and
high performance industry. Rick’s wife, Jenny, is his driving force
and she enjoys old cars, too. Rick’s brother, Monty, is meticulous
and very detail oriented. Billy is a hard worker, wonderful person,
racer, and an inspiration to us all.
